ESH Secondary students join The Hague International Model United Nations

The Hague International Model United Nations conference (THIMUN) is a simulation of the United Nations for secondary school students, usually hosted at the World Forum Convention Center in The Hague. This year, delegates from ESH Secondary represented Malaysia and Mexico in the conference which was held online due to coronavirus restrictions.

ESH Secondary delegates attended online committee meetings, collaborating with students from schools around the world. Each committee had two main issues and two subtopics. The subtopics were lobbied in breakout rooms, with one resolution debated by the whole committee. Delegates delivered two policy statements to clearly state their views on their subtopics.

Being involved in THIMUN provided ESH Secondary students with the opportunity to tackle a variety of global issues alongside other students from around the world, enabling them to further develop their research, communication and critical thinking skills. Special thanks to Ms Jannot, Ms Hellberg, Mr de Ruiter and Mr Schroder for preparing our students and facilitating their involvement in this year’s event.
