Maths Kangaroo is an international mathematical competition where over 50 countries are represented. The annual competition was held on the third Thursday of March. It is the largest competition for school students in the world, with over 5 million participants from 47 countries in 2009, and 6 million by 2014.
Again, this year the ESH participated with all P3 and P4 classes. All children were delighted with certificates and prizes for participating and a few others won t-shirts and bigger prizes - from Berlin.
This competition is for the children to enjoy maths and give them a context for doing their best. According to the organizers, the key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is logical combination, not just pure knowledge of formulas. Well done to these children who also ESHceeded expectations with high scores and giant jumps!
Well done and thanks to Ms Prusse and Ms Simon for organising this!
