Cultural Events

European National Days

As European diversity is at the core of the European schools, we feel strongly about celebrating National Days. These celebratory events aim to honour the rich history, culture, and contributions of the countries for which we offer language tuition. The celebration can include an art exhibition, cultural performances, and enjoying some typical food of the country.

Representatives from the Embassies in the Hague are invited to attend, showcasing the unique and enduring ties between our institutions and promoting European understanding. The teachers of the language program, together with the students and the community, host a wonderful celebration in the Primary Atrium.

Celebrating Dutch Culture

Our school is partly administered and financed by the Dutch government. As such, we have a positive Dutch influence in our education and school culture, embracing the host country's culture by:

  • Celebrating Koningsdag with fun, festivity, and of course, a whole lot of orange!
  • Celerating Sinterklaas with our multilingual children all singing along loudly (in Dutch!) when Sinterklaas visits our school, with his boisterous Pieten, doing acrobatics and spreading the ‘pepernoten’, ‘kruidnoten’ and ‘snoep’ to ecstatic primary children.
  • We encourage parents and pupils to watch the pomp and ceremony as the King and Queen of the Netherlands proceed with the Golden Coach through the streets of The Hague on Prinsjesdag.
