Mathematics Support Specialist and Mathematics Cover Teacher

                                                                                            (0.6-0.8 FTE)

Post description

  • Collaborate with students from the German, Dutch, or English sections, either one-on-one or in small groups, and within the standard classroom setting as required
  • Create and execute Student Support Plans tailored to individual learning requirements, regularly updating the plans based on diagnostic data from evaluations and other assessment tools
  • Offer both written and verbal guidance to Support Team colleagues, other educational staff, and parents regarding student progress, learning strategies, and recommendations
  • Utilize evidence-based best practices, along with the most suitable instructional techniques and resources, to achieve the objectives of student support
  • Provide coverage for Mathematics classes during the short-term or long-term absence of regular teachers
  • Participate in full staff meetings and contribute to staff committees

Requirements

  • Fully qualified Mathematics teacher status for Secondary Education in the country the qualification is obtained. Your teaching qualification must meet the standards required by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO) (First-degree teaching/ Eerste graads)
  • Candidates with an excellent command of English at the C1 level. Additionally, those who can also teach German or Dutch alongside English will be given special consideration

Desirable

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of Mathematics support in an International school setting
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary student support teams
  • Experience of working in a multilingual environment with specific language needs
  • Experience in coaching and supporting teachers in meeting individual students needs
  • Familiar with EB, IB, GCSE, A levels or similar
  • Willingness to be involved in extra-curricular activities
  • Knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage

Skills and Abilities

  • Possess effective communication skills and relates well with all students, teachers and support staff
  • Good organizational and administration skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and work effectively within a team
  • Ability to assess, record, plan, set goals, evaluate progress and produce reports and explicit teaching techniques relating to student needs
  • IT skills relevant to supporting students with additional educational needs
  • Demonstrates a willingness to be committed to several tasks as required and manage time well to ensure quality outcomes

We offer

  • A temporary contract of one year with the prospect to a permanent one (subject to a positive appraisal)
  • An appointment based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (CAO VO), scale 10 OOP. Based on a 1.0 FTE contract, the salary will be between €3,031 - €5,030 gross per month (fulltime) -the specific step in the scale is depending on relevant background and experience
