English as Second Language teacher

Working pattern: 0.65 FTE Mondays to Thursdays| Start date: April 2025 until 31 July 2025 | Closing date: 26 January 2025

Since opening in 2012, our Early Years and Primary school provides young learners with a dynamic, multicultural and multilingual environment in which to play, grow, learn and develop in accordance with the European Curriculum. Early Years and Primary education at our school consists of two years of the Early Years cycle and five years of the Primary cycle.

Pupils undertake the majority of their learning in their own language section. To encourage playing and learning together, and to facilitate multicultural and cross-cultural friendships, a number of lessons are organised in mixed language groups.

The Primary school has five language sections: English, Dutch, Spanish, French and German. Our SWALS pupils (Students Without A Language Section) are placed in the language section of one of the official vehicular languages: English, German, French, or in the language section of the host country (Dutch).

Requirements

  • Fully qualified teacher status for primary education (PGCE and QTS with induction, or equivalent)
  • Fluent in English (C2)
  • Qualified in teaching English as a Second Language
  • At least 3 years of experience in working with second language or EAL pupils

Recommendations

  • Good awareness of the Common European Framework of References for Languages
  • Excellent social and communicative skills and works well in a team
  • Good ICT skills and an understanding of ICT use in an educational context
  • Experience in international or intercultural education
  • Knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage
  • Being innovative and versatile with good organizational skills
  • Active contribution to school development in general
  • Living in the Netherlands with work permit

An appointment based on the Dutch teachers’ collective labour agreement (CAO PO) for primary education LB minimum €3463,- and maximum €5277,-. The specific step in the scale is depending on relevant background and experience.
