Withdrawal from ESH

Once we've received the withdrawal form, the child(ren)'s end date will be entered in our student administration system and the following steps will be taken:

1. ESH will issue a credit note (if applicable). If there are outstanding fees, these need to be settled before any next steps can be taken.
2. The documents you requested in your withdrawal form will then be prepared - so please submit your withdrawal form on time.

When can a Student/Pupil be Deregistered?

According to Article 10 of the Compulsory Education Act 1969, a student may only be deregistered when:

• When the student is enrolled at a new Dutch school (including confirmation of start date from the new school).
• When the student has been deregistered from the Personal Records Database (BRP) due to departure abroad.
• When the student will leave to another country (but the family remains registered in NL) - we can only deregister when the parents have applied for an exception to the school attendance rules from Leerplicht at their municipality.

Further Steps Following Withdrawal

• If your family is leaving The Netherlands, you need to de-register your child(ren) from the municipality, so that they can inform the compulsory education office (Leerplichtambentaar).
• If your child will attend school abroad while still being a registered resident in The Netherlands, you must request an exemption of attendance from the compulsory education officer. 
• If applicable, please inform other parties of your child(ren)'s withdrawal - e.g., the canteen, after school care/extracurricular activities providers, bus company, etc.
